About me

Konnichiwa! I’m Lorelle, the founder of Wildcat Translations

“Wildcat Translations was launched in 2022 in a ‘largely nocturnal and solitary manner’—two characteristics common to both freelance translators and wildcats.”

About me

I graduated from the Master of Interpreting and Translation Studies program at Monash University in 2016 (Melbourne, Australia). My thesis focused on my own translation of an extract of author Hiroshi Ogiwara’s Ashita no Kioku (明日の記憶: Memories of Tomorrow) and the translation of style in literature, for which I achieved a high distinction.

I have been a full-time technical translator since 2016, specialising in patents and life sciences and working with agencies and private clients.

I achieved NAATI certification as a Japanese into English translator in 2017 and am also a member of AUSIT, meaning that I adhere to a strict code of ethics. In 2022, I began operating under “Wildcat Translations” as my business continued to grow, and I began to work in collaboration with trusted colleagues on large-scale projects.

Anecdotally, I am also a descendant of Asajiro Noda, said to be the first Japanese person to settle in New Zealand.

Beyond my work as a Japanese translator, I have diverse passions. I find joy in exploring the realms of food, spending time with my black cat named Squid, going on snowboarding adventures, capturing moments through photography, and embarking on exciting travels.

Why choose Wildcat Translations?

Wildcat Translations is not an agency. Not only do I personally handle translation tasks, but I also collaborate with a team of highly skilled translators, editors, and QA checkers. This unique approach enables us to offer competitive pricing while ensuring that every translator is fairly compensated for their work. I have several trusted colleagues on call who are proficient in technical translation and/or hold NAATI certification. This means we are fully equipped to handle any project, whether small or large-scale. Additionally, we are experienced in using computer-assisted translation (CAT) tools such as Trados and Memsource.

With my extensive experience and qualifications, I am dedicated to providing translations that meet your expectations and go beyond. Choosing Wildcat Translations means choosing a personalised and professional translation service that you can trust.
